Expectations

"If you treat a man as he is, he will remain as he is, but if you treat him as if he were what he ought to be, and could be, he will become what he ought to be, and should be."

Good Stuff

Thankful for:

Good friends and blessings from Heaven (in other words, a $50 blessing outfit that I'm borrowing instead of having to buy).

Good days and answers to prayer (a feeling that I can actually handle life. Friends who invite the Bug over for a morning. A day without raising my voice or getting frustrated).

Improvement and progression (I'm getting faster again. Running, that is--I'm afraid that mentally there is no hope).

Good times and the ability to adapt (ie., a grown man, a toddler, and a baby taking a "bath" at the bottom of a not-at-all-spacious shower. Sorry, no pictures for this one).

A sweet big brother who takes care of his 'yiddo brudder Amum'.

I couldn't find the Bug anywhere yesterday. I should have known where to look first. "A heppin' Amum, Mom!" He had lost his pacifier.

"Amum need a drink"

"Here, Amum. Pyay dis"

This face.

What I'm trying

So I had a friend suggest I try an all natural shampoo to see if the hair pulling is triggered/magnified by a sensitivity to oils used in commercial shampoos. My sister-in-law has been using a simple make-at-home shampoo, so I thought I'd try it out. It's suppose to restore the natural balance to your hair. My scalp is pretty dry, so I figured I'd give it a try. It's a long shot, but hey--it's a free one, and it certainly won't hurt anything. Here is the website if you want to give it a try:

It's just baking soda and apple cider vinegar; super easy. I tried it this morning. I'll let you know how it goes.

The Man

Today I am thankful for:

This Guy

(the one on the right)

Because he is an awesome dad

Because he is an awesome human being

Because he works hard, and learns about what he doesn't understand

Because he is good to the core

Because he cares about our relationship and wants to make it better--and is willing to do what it takes

Love you Babe!

Trich Resources

Sorry, this is more for me than anyone else. I haven't posted about trich in a long time. Not much has changed--I'm still pulling and always looking for ways to be better. Here are some resources I want to have available:

Try Something New

When it comes to eating, I have a tendency to stick to my favorites, but a summer without chocolate has forced me to be a little more adventurous with my treats. If you have an ice cream maker, I would highly recommend this recipe for carmelized banana ice cream from Best Bites.

I did make the caramel sauce she recommends, but the ice cream totally stands on its own. The bananas make it so creamy! I used whipping cream instead of heavy cream and the consistency was awesome. I think it would be dreamy with hot fudge sauce, but, I'll have to wait to see :)
