27 Years of Blessings

That's right, folks, another birthday came and went around here. 27 used to sound so old! Now, in all of my twenty-seven-ness I am grateful:

That I don't feel old

For friends and neighbors who bring us fruit

For my glasses. Or should I call them my finger-proof eyeball shields?

Our new "sound system." Thanks Mom, I've been playing music all day!

That little children need naps in the middle of the day

For time without the computer

For my new book 'Cooking with Food Storage' (more on that later)

For Macey's semi-annual case lot sale

That I have never owed on a credit card

For fun jewelry

That Conference is only a few weeks away!!

That I have so much to be grateful for

What are you thankful for?

Thankful Wednesday?

I know, I know, I'm throwing everything off. I'm only suppose to be thankful on Thursdays because, well, Thankful Thursday sounds better than Thankful Wednesday. Plus Thanksgiving, the most thankful day of the year, is always on a Thursday. So it just makes sense. Well, I'm thankful today. Deal with it.

And here is what I am thankful for:

A cuddly Bug. Isaac gives the best hugs in the world. I'm serious. I'm talking the throw your arms around the neck and squeeze like crazy hugs. It makes every dirty diaper and temper tantrum instantly worth it.

September! I'm kind of not ready for summer to be over, but I realized today that I am actually looking forward to fall leaves, snuggly sweaters, and deeper, richer colors. I was born in September; that makes it a good month. I met the Mr. in September...I think...or at least almost September. September is the time to can peaches--yum. September is the month we found out the Bug was a bug and not a buggette. All good things. What a fine month September is!

The Mr. I bought him a Reese's at the grocery store today to thank him for something. He loves Reese's. Only I can't remember what it is I have to thank him for, I only know that there most certainly is a reason. Oh well, I'll just have to thank him for something like being the world's greatest dad and taking such good care of the Bug, or being an awesome, understanding husband and having so much patience with me, or for working so hard every day so that we can have a beautiful house and food and even dog food for a dog that he doesn't even like and 9-volt batteries.

The internet. I kind of hate it too, because it's really easy for me to waste ridiculous amounts of time on it, but today it really came in handy. I went here and read a talk on an issue I was having. What a blessing to have so many inspiring words at my fingertips.

I am grateful for other things, too, but no one wants to read a forever long blog post. I certainly don't. Go find something to be grateful for.

August's Abundance

This week I am thankful for:

The Bug. He has been so stinking cute lately! He has been listening better, too. I just love him.

The Mr. How I made out with such a good man I will never know. I am so thankful to have a husband who believes what I believe, and wants what I want. This morning he was reading the scriptures to me while I made breakfast. It just so happened that he was in 2 Nephi, and this was what he read:
"Nevertheless, notwithstanding the great goodness of the Lord, in showing me his great and marvelous works, my heart exclaimeth: O wretched man that I am! Yea, my heart sorroweth because of my flesh; my soul grieveth because of mine iniquities. I am encompassed about, because of the temptations and the sins which do so easily beset me."
Which makes me grateful for:

The scriptures. It sure is nice to hear that a prophet of God was struggling with the same feelings as me. It gives me hope.

Hats, glasses, and athletic tape. My hair follicles thank you.

Really, really dark chocolate. Kind of. It's a love-hate thing.

Good to the core people with awesome attitudes that bring my life into perspective.

So much to be Grateful for

So I haven't posted for a few days--life has been crazy, but that just brings so much to be grateful for!

This week I am grateful for:

Our new car! It is a cute little thing with a new dark green paint job. Sure, she's got some miles on her but she's in great shape and I know she'll last us a long time. Now I will not be home-bound when the Mr. drives to work. Yay!

Resilient little boys. Thank heavens swallowing ten consecutive pieces of gum doesn't seem to do any damage.

The poison control hotline, always at my finger tips for first-time-mommy questions, like: should I be concerned that my son just swallowed ten consecutive pieces of gum? They're going to start recognizing my number.

The kiddy pool. Best investment ever.

Our garden. This year there is actually cantaloupe growing on our cantaloupe plants! Can you believe it?

Family. We had so much fun this weekend when some out-of-towners graced us with their presence. Grateful that Randy joined our family and brought so many awesome people with him.

What are YOU thankful for?

Get Down on your Knees

Today I am thankful for prayer. I've taken it for granted lately, I think. What an amazing gift to be able to communicate with our Heavenly Father any time we desire.

And, as ever, I am grateful for the Mr.
He picked these flowers for me at the top of a mountain
while trail running--what was it Babe, ten miles?
I'm serious.

LAAAAAAAAAAA

The days have been melting together here at the P house and I totally forgot about my Thankful Thursday! So I guess it is a Thankful Friday-that-I-thought-was-Thursday. Here it is:

This summer I have had the opportunity to participate in community theater for the first time. I have loved it! Today I am grateful for music, dancing, talents, and the ability to develop them. I am so thankful that God didn't just throw us down here into a school of hard knocks without anything to lift us up, bring us joy, and make life fun!

I recognize this isn't something I will be able to do often, and I am thoroughly enjoying the opportunity. I'm grateful for people who share their time and talents to create a forum for creativity (board members, directors, etc), and the cast members who come together to share their passion, willing to work their tails off to produce something that will hopefully lift and inspire, and a husband who is so accommodating to let me do what I love.

As a side note, today I am also incredibly thankful for a husband who listens, who wouldn't fight with me even if I wanted him to, who is humble, considerate, and very patient with me.

Believe Me Sister

I love my mister man

And, contrary to the song, I can tell you why.

Things I love about my Mr:

He is so patient. In the almost four years that I have known him, I have never once seen him lose his temper.

He is a hard worker. He works hard at work, then he comes back and works hard at home.

He doesn't brag. It's amazing the things I hear from other people that he's never told me.

He took the Bug on a father's & son's campout. Yeah, I'm pretty sure he was the youngest one there. And not only did he take him, they had fun.

He is a wonderful father. The Bug adores him. Watching the two of them play is my favorite. The Mr. gets up with him and lets me get some extra winks almost every morning. Being such a good father bleeds into another reason that I love him so much:

He is a wonderful husband. He is so supportive of my role as a wife and mother. He is supportive of me in general. He also tells me I'm beautiful and who doesn't love that?

Thanks, Babe, for being so great. I sure do love you!

I am

So grateful that God made music a part of this world

Enjoying the blanket fort the Mr. made for the Bug

Looking forward to eating food from our garden

Thankful for all the beautiful women in my life

Not yet sick of the Bug's one word vocabulary that consists of 'no'

Appreciating the flowers in my yard

Sorry that all the pictures I ever post are of my son (but not so sorry that I won't do it again :)

Sad to see other people go through really hard things

So thankful for the blessings in my life
